Learning The 3 Key Judo Throws

Momentum can be classified into two types. One is the force that acts along a curved line; the other is a force that acts along a straight line. The technique that best illustrates the former is uki-goshi (hip throw), while the one that shows the latter to best advantage is uki-otoshi (floating drop). O-goshi (major hip throw) is another of the more important judo throws.

MMA Gear in Huge Demand

Mixed martial arts (MMA) is so popular these days that MMA fight gear has skyrocketed in demand in a short period of time. MMA is a sport that derives from a variety of martial arts and fighting techniques. It is a full contact combat sport that many critics and the media usually portray as rather brutal. Both traditional martial arts techniques and non traditional ones are used in competitions. Contrary to most other sports, both striking and grappling is allowed, whether the fighters are on the ground or standing up. The Ultimate Fighting Championship was formed in 1993, launching MMAs popularity. Initially, the UFC operated under the basis of finding the best martial arts moves for real unarmed combat situations. There were very few rules or worries about safety. Nowadays, there are many more rules for increasing safety to gain more public acceptance of the sport.

The History of Self Defense

Self defense is such a broad term that the history of it cannot be pinned down in the least. It is safe to say, however, that the broad spectrum of self defense can be considered as having come from the dawn of time even the earliest forms of human had to learn how to protect themselves and teach their strategies to others. From there self defense evolved into less primitive forms and into delineated and disciplined forms, such as with martial arts. There really is a style of defense for everybody whether it be women's self defense, kickboxing, street fighting or even martial arts.

Bloody Self Defense- Martial Arts

Sport martial arts are a lot of fun and matches can be thrilling and competitive. They teach us a lot about character and discipline, but they don't necessarily teach you how to fight. While they give you a good idea of what it is like to grapple with another person or strike an opponent they don't teach you about real self defense. In a real life situation where you would use self defense things are much bloodier and nastiest, and that is because it has to be that way. When life and death is on the line there is no such thing as "fighting dirty."
