Be Careful How You Process Information

This past week The Capital Area Association of Realtors released June home sales figures. For the second month in a row the association decided to do a previous month comparison, and year over year comparison. Why would they start a previous month comparison? In my opinion because the numbers sound better than year over year comparisons. What is being reported is factual, closed home sales for June were up over 20% from May. Sounds great doesn't it?

Could This Be the Last Independence Day?

Happy Independence Day! This is the 233 celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This timeless document established the foundation for the writing of the constitution which led to the greatest democratic form of government in history. Included in the Declaration of Independence comes these words; We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

What They Like About John McCain

From the beginning of his political career in 1982 as a member of the House of Representatives John McCain has supported our armed forces, worked to stop extravagant government spending, and to lower taxes. In 1986 he was elected to the United States Senate. He has fought against special interests and their lobbyists. These are the reasons many people of conservative bent like John McCain.

What They Don’t Like About McCain

The McCain detractors come from liberal and conservative ilk. It is obvious that those of liberal bent don't approve of John McCain because he dislikes pork barrel spending. Those that like to waste government funds raised by taxes don't want the hay day to end. No matter that the federal government's debt is soaring and we have been lowered to borrowing from China.

U.S. Congressman Tom Tancredo Proves Smoking Dope and Politics Bad Mix

U.S. Congressman Tom Tancredo made the statement today that all of the country of Mexico is a drug cartel. I wished he would have emailed me before he made that statement and wish also he would lay off the sinsemilla. It has to be affecting his judgment as evidenced by his making a goofy statement like that.

The investor's eye view of politics is a simplistic, practical, dot-connecting approach to sorting things out so that win/win change can be considered. Real world politics is not concerned with such things, and that is one of the most serious problems facing investors today. There are at least ten issues that require government action if we are to maintain our competitive position in the world economy. Most of these are interrelated and need to be acted upon simultaneously— thus causing a major political dilemma.

The 2008 Elections: Will You Get Exactly What You Wish For?

Back in 2006 the Democrat Party and their Mainstream Media sponsors initiated an ad campaign that rightfully exposed those Republicans who were abusing their power. The Republicans who had seized control of both Houses in 1994 by promising Conservatism had reneged on their, "Contract with America". Of course they were aided by a White House that had misplaced the veto-pen and replaced it with a rubber stamp.
