Bone Cancer: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment and Prognosis

Bone cancer is rare and accounts for less than 1% of all new tumors. Not all bone tumors are fatal in fact benign (non cancerous) abnormalities are more common than malignant ones. Most bone cancers are secondary and have been spread from another site. Primary bone cancer which starts in the bone is quite rare constituting less than one per cent of all malignant tumors. They are more common in males, especially in children and adolescents. The most common type of primary bone cancer is osteosarcoma. This type of carcinoma usually affects young adults. It can affect any bone, but the arms, legs and pelvis are more commonly affected. Other less common forms of primary bone cancer include Ewing sarcoma, malignant fibrous histiocytoma and chondrosarcoma.

Do you think that there is a smoker anywhere that hasn't been told how dangerous smoking is? Media campaigns continue to highlight the dangers so it's almost impossible to ignore the problem. If you haven't taken any notice of these messages it's because you want to ignore them. I should think by now we all know that lung cancer, in the majority of cases is caused by smoking and not just to those people over 65 years of age or those with a genetic disposition.

3 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Treatments Explained

There are two main types of cancer non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Of the two, NSCLC is much more widespread representing 80% of cases. It begins when the cells of the lung start to expand and multiply rapidly and uncontrollably. Over time this can cause a malignant (cancerous) tumour to develop in the lungs which then kills the surrounding cells as it grows. Although this condition is potentially fatal there are a number of treatments that can be used depending on how advanced the cancer has become. In this article I will be discussing three of these NSCLC treatments.

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life - History

Relay brings together more than 3.5 million who have been touched by cancer is some way; I'm sure that cancer has touched your life as well. Teams gather at local high schools, parks or fairgrounds to camp out and take turns walking around the track. Because cancer never sleeps, the teams have a team member on the track at all times during the overnight event. Teams have fund raising events prior to and at the event. Team members ask their family and friends to participate and/or donate to their team.
